How to Tell If Your Sash Windows Need Repair or Full Replacement
Most Cheltenham sash windows that look beyond saving can be repaired. If the box frame is sound and the decay is local to the sill, bottom rail or cords, a joiner can splice in matched timber and rebalance the sash for another 20 to 30 years. Full replacement is only needed when the frame itself has failed or more than half of a major member has rotted away.

Signs your sashes can be repaired
These faults are routine for a heritage joiner and rarely justify scrapping the window.
